Finding feeds
You do not need to hunt for RSS URLs yourself. Here is what to do when a feed still will not turn up.
Just paste the site URL
Enter a site’s homepage URL and the feed location declared on that page is read automatically. That covers most sites.
There is no need to go looking for an RSS icon or link.
When nothing is found
If auto-detection comes up empty, these usually work:
- Check the site’s footer or sidebar for an RSS link
- Try the common paths directly: /feed, /rss, /atom.xml, /index.xml
- Try the CMS default (WordPress uses /feed, Blogger uses /feeds/posts/default)
Sites with no feed at all
Sites that publish no feed can still be followed: updates are detected from their pages and turned into a feed. This is available after signing in.
Because it is expensive to fetch, there are limits on how many such feeds one account can have and how often they are checked. Sites that disallow it in robots.txt are not fetched.
Check before you subscribe
Every feed page shows articles per week, the hours it usually posts, a 52-week trend, and its fetch status. You can tell whether a feed will flood you before you subscribe to it.
Feeds that have stopped updating say so, so you will not accidentally subscribe to something that died years ago.
