# Terms of Service

Conditions for using this service.

Last updated 2026-09-16 · This content applies from 2026-09-30

## Eligibility

You must be 13 or older to use this service. This is not a service directed at children.

This service is not available to people in the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. The same applies to use through an AI service.

If you sign up with an email address, you are responsible for keeping your password safe. Do not reuse a password from another service.

## Pricing

Free. There is no paid plan, no billing and no upsell. Operating costs are covered by advertising revenue.

## Automated access

Programmatic access is accepted through the following channels. Each channel has a limit on how many calls we accept, and calls beyond that limit may not receive a response for a while. Limits may change without notice.

- Fetching public pages by crawlers that follow robots.txt (excluding paths robots.txt declines to have fetched)
- Fetches an AI service makes on the spot, in response to a user’s request, of public pages
- Calls to the sign-in-free MCP (/public-mcp) and /ask
- Calls to the MCP (/mcp) by an AI app you have allowed. Only operations within the scope you allowed can be performed
- /llms.txt, the Markdown version of each page, /stats.json, and fetching the subscribe button, subscriber-count badge, and share images
- Operations performed in the reader by the AI feature built into your browser (WebMCP)

## Connecting with AI apps

You can allow an AI app that supports MCP to handle your account’s subscriptions and how you organize them. The scope an AI app requests (read-only, or including changes) is shown on the connection’s consent screen, and you choose whether to allow it. An AI app cannot read article text, the list of articles from the feeds you subscribe to, or your read/starred/highlight history, and it cannot delete your account.

Operations an allowed AI app performs within the scope you allowed will be treated as actions taken by you (except where caused by a defect in this service). AI apps can misread an instruction, or perform an operation you did not instruct. Please check the result of any change yourself, and export your subscription list from the settings screen from time to time to keep a copy.

Operations performed in the reader by the AI feature built into your browser (WebMCP) are likewise treated as actions taken by you. Actions that cannot be undone are confirmed in the reader screen each time.

An AI app and the business that provides it are a third party separate from this site. This site does not review the safety of individual AI apps, or how their providers handle information. Where the provider’s site cannot be confirmed on the consent screen, the app’s name is whatever the app itself claims, and this site has not verified it. How information handed to an AI app is handled follows that business’s own terms and privacy policy.

You can connect up to 10 AI apps per account. You can revoke a connection at any time from "Connected AI apps" in settings. Signing out on all devices, changing or resetting your password, or deleting your account also revokes every connection.

If misuse is suspected, this site may suspend a specific AI app’s connection.

## Prohibited conduct

Please refrain from the following.

- High-volume programmatic access outside the channels described in "Automated access" (including calling /api/ directly, automating a screen that requires signing in beyond the normal frequency of your own use of your account, and using multiple accounts or connection points to get around a limit)
- Impersonating the name or signature of a search engine’s or an AI service’s program to connect
- Unauthorised access to other users’ data
- Fraudulent ad clicks or impression inflation
- Anything unlawful

## Rights in articles and content

Copyright in articles retrieved from feeds belongs to their respective publishers. This service fetches and displays what a feed publishes; it claims no rights in that content.

Public pages show article titles and links (roughly the ten most recent) along with statistics such as update frequency. Article bodies and excerpts are not published. The Markdown version of each page, /llms.txt, and MCP responses do not go beyond this either.

This site declares, through robots.txt and HTTP headers, that use for search, AI answers, and AI training is permitted (Content-Signal: search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=yes). This declaration covers only content this site holds rights to — the text, guides, images, and page structure this site created, and the statistics this site compiled.

For third-party content included on public pages — such as the names of feeds and sites, article titles, feed descriptions, and icons — this declaration does not grant any license to use them. If you want to use them, follow each rights holder’s terms and the law of the region where you use them. The names of sites included in a public subscription list are likewise a third party’s own.

## Public subscription lists

A folder’s subscription list can be published as a page with a hard-to-guess URL. Whether to publish it, and whether to be listed on search engines, are each your own choice. Neither is chosen by default.

A published list can be viewed and downloaded by anyone who knows the URL, and may be fetched and stored by crawlers or AI services. Unpublishing it, or deleting the folder or account, makes it no longer visible on this site, but copies already fetched and stored by third parties cannot be deleted from this site.

The folder name and nickname are shown as-is on the public page. Please do not include your real name, contact information, or anything else that could identify you or someone else, or wording that might infringe someone else’s rights.

Reports received through "Report this list" on a public page are accepted through the same channel as feedback, and are not answered individually. This site may unpublish a list it judges to violate the law or these terms.

## Subscribe button, subscriber-count badge, and statistics

The subscribe button and subscriber-count badge can be placed on anyone’s site, free of charge, not only a feed’s publisher.

The number on the subscriber-count badge is a rounded, approximate figure for subscribers on this site, shown as "\<10," "10+," "20+," "50+," or "100+," and does not include subscribers on other RSS readers. Feeds that are no longer fetched, or that have been removed from public pages, do not show a number. Neither the accuracy of the number nor how current it is, is guaranteed.

Please do not alter the number or appearance shown by a badge or button, make it look as though this site endorses or is affiliated with your site, or use it to impersonate a feed’s publisher when you are not that publisher.

/stats.json contains only values aggregated once a day for this site as a whole — the number of feeds and the number of articles — and includes nothing that identifies an individual user. It is provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). If you use it, please credit freefeed and link to /stats.json.

Press-kit materials such as the logo, description, and screenshots can be used under the conditions on the press-kit page.

What is offered as badges, buttons, statistics, and press-kit materials may change or stop without notice.

## Removal from listings

Site owners can request removal or exclusion from the crawler page. Requests are processed automatically after domain ownership is verified.

## Feedback you send

Anything you send may be used freely to improve the service or in announcements. No compensation is paid.

Please do not write confidential or personal information. Individual replies are not sent, so it would not be used.

Sending feedback is not a promise of an individual reply or of any action. Legal requests (access or deletion, removal from listings, security reports) are not accepted there — please use the settings screen, the crawler page, or the address given on the about page.

## Disclaimer

This service is run by one person. No guarantee is made regarding availability or data preservation. Please export anything important and keep your own copy — export is available at any time from the settings screen.

If the service is ever shut down, advance notice will be given wherever possible.

## Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and show the new content along with the date the change takes effect.
